TALLADEGA, Ala., March 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Quality Manufacturing, Inc. today announced it has received an order for 10 custom-built pumper fire trucks from Oconee County, S.C. that will be used to upgrade its rescue fleet.
Talladega, Ala.-based Quality Manufacturing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Spartan Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPAR)
, will provide Oconee County with pumper/tanker trucks built with Quality’s “Americana” aluminum body. Oconee County, which is close to the borders of North Carolina and Georgia in the northwest corner of South Carolina, is home to 17 fire departments and approximately 425 firefighters.

Quality has already begun work on the trucks, each of which will be equipped with a 1,500 gallon-per-minute pump with a compressed air foam system (CAFS) and 1,000 gallon water tanks.
Quality Manufacturing said experience with multiple orders and its ability to install the CAFS were important factors in the county’s decision. Compressed air foam systems are lighter than traditional water hoses, cause less structural damage than water, and can fight different types of fires effectively with wet, medium, or dry foam.
