Spartan Motors Announces New Director of Purchasing

CHARLOTTE, Mich., June 8 /PRNewswire/ — Spartan Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPAR)
today announced it has hired Delbridge Malloch as its new director of purchasing.

The Charlotte, Mich.- based manufacturer of custom chassis, emergency vehicles and buses said Malloch brings more than 15 years experience in all areas of procurement, inventory control, distribution and logistics, production planning, engineering change control and management information systems to his new position.

Malloch will oversee purchasing at Spartan Motors Chassis, which manufactures chassis for recreational vehicles (RVs), fire trucks and buses. He will also direct Spartan’s new purchasing alliance with Federal Signal Corporation (NYSE:FSS)
. Malloch will report to John Williamson, director of operations.

“One of our strategic objectives is to consolidate certain functions at the corporate level, including purchasing,” said John Sztykiel, president and chief operating officer of Spartan Motors. “Purchasing represents a tremendous cost-saving opportunity for the company. By using common bill-of- material sets that can be interchanged between markets and products, we can still offer customized products, yet drive our volume-purchasing power up — and our costs down. Del’s experience provides Spartan Motors with an added level of expertise that will help us improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness in the purchasing area.”

Most recently, Malloch served as the corporate purchasing manager of the Hillsdale Tool Division of Eagle-Picher Automotive, a Tier-One supplier to several leading U.S., Japanese, European and Australian automakers. Previously, Malloch was employed by Tac Manufacturing, where he served as materials manager. He also worked for 11 years at Consumers Power Company, Michigan’s largest public utility. Malloch holds both a bachelor’s degree and an M.B.A. from Central Michigan University. He is also certified by the National Association of Purchasing Managers. Malloch and his wife, Cindy, reside in Jackson, Mich. with their four sons.
